Coming Home: Family RV Association Rally Returns to Its Roots at Good Will-Hinckley

This spring, we’re thrilled to welcome the Maine Wheels chapter of the Family RV Association (FRVA) to Good Will-Hinckley for the “Where it All Began Rally,” taking place Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1, 2025.

This special event marks a meaningful milestone in the long-standing connection between FRVA—formerly known as the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA)—and our historic campus, where it all began more than six decades ago.

A Historic Homecoming

It was July 1963 when 26 motor coach owners gathered on our campus to view a total solar eclipse. That gathering sparked the idea of forming a national group of RV enthusiasts. Within a year, the Family Motor Coach Association had nearly 500 members. Today, FRVA continues that legacy of community and connection on the road.

In 1994, a black granite monument was placed on our grounds to commemorate the founding of the association—a symbol of the bond that’s lasted over six decades.

What’s Happening at the Rally

The 2025 rally will feature opportunities for FRVA members to reconnect with our campus, including tours of the L.C. Bates Museum, presentations, nature hikes, and a special gathering at the FMCA monument. As a tribute to the original 1963 event, many attendees will dry camp on the grounds.

Please note: This is a private event for registered FRVA members and is not open to the public.

We’re grateful to play a small role in celebrating this special legacy and look forward to welcoming FRVA back to where it all began.
