Expert On-Site Counseling and Health Care

Good Will-Hinckley helps young people address a range of behavioral, emotional, social and family problems. Personalized counseling programs are developed for each student in the context of our whole-health approach to care. Our Motivational Teaching System (MTS) helps young people make better choices and accept responsibility for life decisions. With a focus on building strong relationships, especially with adults and family members, we help young people learn skills that can be used throughout life. Individual, group and family counseling, as well as primary healthcare and medication management, is delivered by GWH's licensed therapists, physicians and nurses.

Clinical services primarily employ a Cognitive Behavioral approach. Other evidenced-based practices including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Expressive Therapies are also utilized. Clinicians work collaboratively with educational and residential life staff to help guide students' treatment. The treatment planning team incorporates input from clinical, educational, medical and residential staff, as well as from the student and their family members.

Because our clinicians are on-site, they are able to work every day with students in school, their cottages or during recreational activities. Rather than being limited to office therapy sessions, our clinicians integrate treatment into all facets of campus life.
